Change Your Password, Create Users

Hi, welcome back to our WordPress Tutorial, this time I’ll be focusing on logging into your WordPress for the very first time. If you’re just joining in you can check out the last blog post on Domain Names, Hosting and Setting Up Your DNS.

To get started you’ll need your username and password. Back when you installed WordPress onto your host you should have been prompted to create a username and password. I personally like to save mine

with either a screenshot or in a file so that I don’t lose them. Every WordPress website will have the

same login page essentially the URL will always be yourdomain.com/wp-admin Once you’ve gotten to this page you will see your login screen.

Once you’ve entered your username and password, click Log In and you should now be in your WordPress website for the first time.

You’re now in your dashboard it’s where you can check to see what’s going on with your WordPress. On the left hand side you should see something like this, don’t worry if it’s not exactly the same. The WordPress Website that I took this from is already set up as a store, so it has a lot of features on it.

From this menu you can manage the user who have access to your WordPress blog or website by clicking on Users. To add a user click the Add New button at the top of this page, from there you can easily assign a password and username of your choosing to be sent to an email. Optionally you can auto generate a secure password, or choose to not send the new user registration to an email address. It’s all up to you.

On the Users page you can also click edit under the name of a user to change any of the information including the password.

Remember to always complete any work you’ve done on your WordPress by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking Update Profile.
